Marks Thrilled to Raise Awareness for The V Foundation

Mooresville, NC (04-23-2008) – Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Justin Marks will drive a special paint scheme this weekend at Kansas Speedway. The no. 9 Tundra will be in it’s familiar green and white, but the hood will carry a special message. Marks, of Rocklin, CA, enjoys sports and is a big fan of the late basketball coach Jimmy Valvano. This weekend, Marks’ Tundra will help raise awareness for The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

“Truly it’s an honor to represent The V Foundation on our Germain Racing Tundra this weekend in Kansas. They have made an incredible impression in the fight against cancer in professional sports for so many years and playing a small part in spreading their message in our corner of the sporting world is humbling,” said Marks. “Cancer has touched millions of lives including many right here in the NASCAR community, even in our Craftsman Truck Series. Having The V Foundation for Cancer Research on our truck this week gives our mission purpose beyond on-track results.”

Though the no. 9 Tundra will carry a heavy message, don’t expect Marks to be anything but fast. Marks last year captured the track record in ARCA RE/MAX Series qualifying – a record previously held by Cup Series racer Ryan Newman.

“I like the Kansas track. It’s the type of track I enjoy racing on – I had a great race there the only other time I've been to Kansas Speedway,” said Marks, referring to last year’s ARCA RE/MAX Series race. “We've been strong this season and I am really looking forward to getting back in the seat. After the break we’ve had since Martinsville, I'm refreshed, re-focused and ready to go.” Marks will have a lot of support in the grandstands when he takes to the track Friday at Kansas Speedway. Marks was born in St. Louis, MO, and spent several childhood years in the midwest before becoming a Californian.

“Racing in the Midwest near Missouri and Iowa and Illinois is dear to me. My family is from the area and I always have strong support at these races. It gives me strength and motivation knowing that the people that planted the racing seed in my life can witness the impact it has had on me and the passion I have for it firsthand,” said Marks, who remembers watching races with his grandparents at 34 Raceway in Iowa.

Following his Kansas race, Marks take to the track at Rockingham Raceway Park driving the no. 01 AW North Carolina CAMRY as part of a joint effort with Hattori Racing Enterprises. Germain Racing has won two or more races each year for a total of 14 wins. Along with the victories, the team has earned 4 Bud Pole awards, 56 top-five and 85 top-ten finishes and led 1355 laps in 161 Truck Series races.
