“We had a pretty decent day at Kansas. It actually was a great race for me because I had the opportunity to really race hard, side-by-side and get a lot of experience with the air and how it affects the trucks,” said Marks, a rookie racer who looks forward to learning all he can every time he’s in his no. 9 Tundra. “I had a great race with Brendan Gaughan and I learned a lot in The V Foundation Tundra.
Marks fell a lap down to the leaders early in the race, but with the help of crew chief Jason Overstreet and the Germain Racing crew, the Rocklin, CA, native was able to battle back onto the lead lap and make a strong showing for the no. 9 V Foundation Tundra.
“We had a problem on the first run and fell down a lap. After we fixed the truck I raced real hard to get back on the lead lap and when we did, we were able to run solidly in the top-15 the rest of the day,” said Marks.
The crew worked with Marks to adjust the Tundra throughout the 167 lap race.
“We were a little tight and just needed the Tundra to rotate a bit better through the middle but the truck was good. Jason and the guys did a great job getting the truck to where I needed it and all in all it was just a solid weekend.”
Marks has a heavy schedule between Kansas and the next Truck Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 16th. Marks will race at Rockingham Speedway in the ARCA RE/MAX Series “Carolina 500” on May 4th and will test at two different race tracks with the no. 9 Crocs/Construct Corps Tundra.
