Marks Earned First NCTS Pole at Texas, Finished 14th

Fort Worth, TX (06-07-2008) – Justin Marks became the first Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender to earn a Keystone Pole Award this season when he bested veterans like Mike Skinner and Ron Hornaday Jr. to take the top spot in qualifying for Friday night’s Sam’s Town 400. Marks, driving for Germain Racing in the no. 9 Construct Corps Tundra, led the first lap of the race and finished 14th.

“We started the first part of the race with the Construct Corps Tundra on the free side. We got it better as the race went on and we had some great restarts, especially with the tires cooled down. On the green/white/checkered finish, the no. 9 Tundra just shot up the hill and a few guys were able to drive right under me. It was a decent race for us, but a top-ten finish would’ve made the race better,” said Marks.

Instead of enjoying his second Texas race and first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start from the pole position, Marks became overwhelmed with heat during the 172-lap race. Under one of the race’s long caution periods, Marks was able to take in enough fresh air to finish out the Sam’s Town 400.

“I appreciate Stacy Compton standing by for me, and Jason and the crew making sure I was fine out there,” said Marks, who was able to run among the top-ten before finishing 14th.

Marks maintained 17th position in the Truck Series standings.
