Marks Putting Crocs Tundra into Action at Michigan

Mooresville, NC (05-13-2008) – Michigan International Speedway won’t be a new frontier for NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie racer Justin Marks, but he’ll be tackling the race track with a different vantage point. Marks, who has raced at Michigan twice in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, will take to the track in the no. 9 Crocs Tundra, his first Truck Series race at the 2.0-mile oval.

“I enjoy racing at Michigan because it’s a great track. The groove widens out so much that you can run high, low or middle- whatever your car or truck is doing you can find a place to race,” said Marks. “Michigan International Speedway’s wide, flat corners make for good side by side racing.”

Crew chief Jason Overstreet said Marks will have a slight learning curve when he first puts the no. 9 Tundra on track for Saturday’s Cool City Customs 200.

“Justin has run there in the ARCA cars before, so the track won’t be new to him. The biggest thing he will be noticing is the difference with the Crocs Tundra vs. the ARCA cars. He’ll learn where he can run it and how the draft, which is a lot bigger at Michigan with the Truck Series than it is with race cars, will affect the Crocs Tundra,” said Overstreet.

Marks has been on drafting tracks like California, Atlanta and Charlotte.

“At Michigan, from what I’ve experienced, the draft is kind of the same as it is at like Atlanta or Charlotte, just to a bigger degree. It’s definitely going to play a part, but if you’re truck is good, you’re going to run at the front. If you’re truck is bad, you’ll still run at the back. The draft may play into fuel mileage. I know the draft will be important there, but the Crocs Tundra will need to handle well to be a factor in Saturday’s race,” said Marks.

Marks just earned his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Keystone Pole Award at Texas Motor Speedway where he finished 14th. The Rocklin, CA, native is 17th in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship points.
